Personal Statement

Dr. Merrick is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and serves as the Medical Director of the Center for Special Studies, the Adult HIV Clinic at New York Presbyterian-ÈÕ±¾avÉ«ÇéƬ.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with over 25 years of experience caring for patients with or at risk of HIV infection.

He is a 2016 recipient of the Linda Laubenstein HIV Clinical Excellence Award from the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, the highest honor bestowed by the State for clinical care and leadership. He has also served on the AIDS Institute Quality of Care and Medical Care Criteria Committees for over a decade, serving as Chair of the latter for three years, developing and updating guidelines for the care and prevention of HIV.

Dr. Merrick received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Harvard University and his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at The New York Hospital.
